hmm... is that 3200+ a barton core? if so I'd say it would tear that celeron in half. But if it's a thoroughbred... ehehehe

Go AMD 3200+ over the Celeron. Even if its old, it would still be better than a Celeron.

i just got a motherboard bundle and the processor that it came with was the celeron 2.93. the board can support pentium 4s up to 3.2 but i don't have the money to buy that at the time. will the celeron allow me to do the same things i have been doing (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop) on the amd at a faster speed or will it actually be slower?

and yes, the amd is a barton which is HP OEM

mmmmmmm barrrrrrton. That celeron doesn't stand a chance in hell against that barton.

The Barton was as far as I know the last (and best) core for the athlon xp series.. I hear a 3200+ is comparable in performance to an athlon64 3000+.
