I am in the middle of building my new rig.... I got the CPU on so it was time to put on the heat sink... I put it on and fasten the retaining clip on one side.... i go to the other side and the other clip wont reach! i barely got it to go on.... so now when i try to close the lever on the other side... it wont close because the other side is on to tight... CPU is a AMD athlon x2 4400+ and mobo is dfi lanparty ut sli-dr expert... i have some pictures too...

overhead view...

any ideas??? the heat sink is relatively centred so im not sure what the problem is...

ok i posted links instead since i am having trouble resizing... and yes its a stock heatsink that came with the CPU.

Uhh ... well this is kinda bad because the heatsink is stuckk on to the base on the mobo... it wont come off since the clip is a tight fit for the base....

I'm finding it hard to think that heatsink is at stock one. I see those heatpipes in the middle link you got there and I don't remember AMD using anything like that. What CPU do you have?

I've been out of the CPU loop so I'm not sure if AMD modified their heatsinks for their newer models *shrug*. Mine doesn't have those and it fits fine. It was a really tight fit because they want to make sure that the retaining clips don't come loose. Try using a flat head screwdriver to pry it open and reinstall again.

X2 4400+... yes it is a stock heatsink... straight out of the retail box... i just barely got the clip on but the lever is impossible to close now... and i dont think the clips will come off now....?
