CPU Fan Compatibility

i bought a cpu fan that says "compatible with celeron 3.06," and I'm wondering it i could use a celeron 3.20 processor with that cpu fan. would the processor overheat?

Huh? It should say what Socket it's compatible with. What processor and socket do you have? If you don't know the socket, download CPU-Z and run it.

both processors i mentioned are socket 478. the fan's box says compatible with celeron 3.06 but like i said, i'm wondering if i can use a faster speed processor, the celeron 3.20

About your question, it doesn't matter what speed the processor is, just as long as the socket is the same. So if both are Socket 478, and the heatsink is Socket 478 compatible, then it'll work for both. Get what I mean?

i think i get what you mean. i thought the speed stated on the box meant that the fan could only keep cool processors up to that speed.

No. They usually generate the same amount of heat, unless the clock speeds are so drastically different that the heatsink can't cope with the high temperatures.
