yeh, if your looking for some serious hardware firewalls, a cisco PIX is definatly the way to go, however you will pay for what you get.

I personally just use the built in Win XP firewall. It offers good basic protection. Go with Zonealarm if you want more features.

Looking at the PIX 501 getting 60mbps clear text throughput, I wonder why I am using an 831 which does a 1/6th of the throughput and costs doubble as much.

Once you own and use Cisco it's not much to pay at all for the reliability, security and peformance.
