okay, everybody says AMD's (insert name) is better than Intel's (insert another name) at (insert charactaristic). and vice versa.

all that is nice, but it usually is only true for each company's top model.

lol, that has nothing to do with the question at hand...

anyway, i was just wondering:

1. who has the best processor per dollar - mid range processor.
2. also, who has the best processor for about $100
3. same as number 2, but with $200
4. ...with $300

Although the following are great, the best processor per dollar is the 3200+ or the 630.

Amd.. (which i would choose as the better of the two..

Intel.. (which actually should be competiting with the 3000+ but its in the same price range as the 3200+

speaking of Xeons, can they be oc'd really high? (ie opteron-like abilities). and are they any good for gaming or normal uses?

Hmm... I beleive they can. And I think that they are better then opterons in Multitasking. But that will be argued both ways.

As for gaming, no better then any other Intel. Although, you cant Mutlitask like there is no tomorrow. And the great thing would be that you never need to shut off your computer!

Ill do some reseach for you real fast.

Wait for the Conroe. :D Unless you can't wait...then go for AMD. If you must go with Intel, go with the Pentium D 900 series because it's 65nm manufacturing process gives it a better TDP over it's 90nm counterpart (Smithfield).

Xeons are okay...nothing compared to Opterons. At least until Woodcrest arrives.
