Processor Speeds

It feels so good to know that your motherboard could support future amd products. Especially Athlon 64 X2. I wonder what would happen if AMD and INTEL joined forces?
 
Theorectically, the higher the frequency, measured in nearly anything, but for short hand with today's CPUs we use GHz (Gigahertz). The higher this frequency, the fadter the processor is supossed to be. However, due to the fact that Intel and AMD aliek have designed 'architectures' for the CPUs, along with various built in technoliges, such being AMD's Memory Controller or Intel's Quad-Pumped FSB, it does not necessarily mean that the higher the frequency, the faster the CPU.

Yes, there are other factors which limit or improve CPU speed, such being a hard drive speed, take a 5400RPM SATA drive with an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ versus a 15,000RPM SCSI drive with an Intel Pentium D 805, the Pentium D linked with the 15,000RPM SCSI drive will be much faster, due to the fact that it is not bottlenecked by the lack of speed at which the hard drive can read and write data.

All in all, generally speaking, whichever manufacturer you purcahse from, AMD or Intel, the higher frequency their product is, the better it is in terms of performance. :)
 
Actually, 2006 is going to be an Intel year :D haha. AM2 is going to be like the transition from northwood to prescott, or so it seems for right now. So this year, its Intel OWNS AMD. And AMD does 9 IPC Intel does 6 IPC (with netburst, dont know about core)
