Having a discussion with a co-worker. I always say SATA as it being one word. But my co worker argues with me and tells me you don't always have to say it as it looks. It shoul be said S A T A as each individual letters. Now my question to you all is, do you say SATA or S A T A?

It's about the abbreviation and how you preceive the word and how you say it.

Fair point, if I ring up a shop, I ask how much a 250GB Serial-ATA is, not how much a 250GB SATA is..

Whatever you like really, tomato - tomato..

IMHO,you might say SATA as long as it doesn't have a conflict technical word. It's too long when you say S A T A if the hard disk is only unique on its description as S A T A. Just like when you say VIRUS in computer, you won't necessary say that I have a V I R U S in my PC.

I'd go with SATA as one word. It's basically short form for serial-ata. I dunno why you would say s.a.t.a? Guess its personal preference.

Yeah same I say the wore sata. You would sound weird uhh yeah i have a ....s....a.....t...a hard drive
