Alright, I need some help. When i turn on a windows 98 computer after i have shut it down the wrong way a blue scandisk will come up and it will scan to 40% and then it will say, "Invalid long file name entry"-not sure what it means-. So i press enter then it just sits there making noises until it shuts itself off.

Now, i try'd to reformat by oing this

Turn the computer on with windows 98 disk loaded.
Press Ctrl until the window comes up with options
I press Boot from windows 98 cd rom
Then it goes through its process
Now it goes to the scan disk page again and scans until 35-36% and does the same thing.

how do i get around this to whip everything out and start all over from nothing??????

get a 98 boot disk. load it up so your in dos. type "format c:" let it format the hdd. then type d:\setup.exe (or whatever letter your drive is) and see what happens then.
thats a short guide so let me know if you have any problems

I will try that...... But the thing is i don't know if i have a boot disk. and does it have to be 3 1/2 diskette
