I have just built a third pc and am about to put it on my home network. I've tried this before, but couldn't find anything that worked, or that didn't overcomplictae things.

Can anyone suggest a program that will enable me tosend instant messages to the different computers on the network, that is easy to set up, and preferably free?

Thanks for any help

dude, it makes it so much easier just to use windows messenger, trillian, or aim (whichever you are comfortable with) it requires no setting up, and you can just make a group called home network! :)

there is a way to do it through the cmd prompt, cant think of it off the top of my head, it requires using IP adresses and such if i remember right... anyone kno what i mean?

yeah, its NET SEND...but that only displays whatever message you are trying to send on the target computer, the user cannot reply back unless they then use the NET SEND command at the command line.

The parameter is net send {name |*| /domain[:name] | /users} message

Or type net help send at the command line
