speed to burn on?

in the priority of the disc burner there is a speed adjustment, 1x 2x 4x 8x 24--32--48x and fastes, witch should i pick and do i set that when a disc is in or not?
and also there is the choice of "use this drive" do i clic it or not?
i think the main drive is inCD 4.3 FROM NERO for my toshiba SDR5372 burner but i want to use Roxio to burn and save.

ok so if i set it at fastes is it the computer that decide the right speed it is going to burn at?

Your computer shouldn't allow you to burn faster than the disk allows... about 80% of the time, or so, my computer will limit me to the speeds the disks are rated at. Sometimes it'll let me burn faster and it'll work, sometimes it'll burn faster and won't work. But majority of the time, it gets it right.

yeah, there should be an option for fastest allowable (also sometimes fastest) and when you choose the drive to use choose the one that says cd/r cd/rw, or find the brand of it on your computer, and compare it to the ones in the program your using to burn.
