Like Toy Soldiers

by Eminem

Step by step, heart to heart, left right left We all fall down...[Chorus] Step by step, heart to heart, left right left We all fall down like toy soldiers Bit by bit, torn apart, we never win But the battle wages on for toy soldiers [Verse 1] I'm supposed to be the soldier who never blows his composure Even though I hold the weight of the whole world on my shoulders I am never supposed to show it, my crew ain't supposed to know it Even if it means goin' toe to toe with a Benzino it don't matter I'd never drag them in battles that I can't handle unless I absolutely have to I'm supposed to set an example I need to be the leader, my crew looks for me to guide 'em If some shit ever just pop off, I'm supposed to be beside 'em Now the Ja shit i tried to squash it, it was too late to stop it There's a certain line you just don't cross and he crossed it I heard him say Hailie's name on a song and I just lost it It was crazy, this shit way beyond some Jay-z and Nas shit And even though the battle was won, I feel like we lost it I spent too much energy on it, honestly I'm exhausted And I'm so caught in it I almost feel I'm the one who caused it This ain't what I'm in hip-hop for, it's not why I got in it That was never my object for someone to get killed Why would I wanna destroy something I helped build It wasn't my intentions, my intentions was good I went through my whole career without ever mentionin' ...Now it's just out of respect for not runnin' my mouth And talkin' about something that I knew nothing about Plus Dre told me stay out, this just wasn't my beef So I did, I just fell back, watched and gritted my teeth While he's all over t.v. down talkin' a man who literally saved my life Like fuck it i understand this is business And this shit just isn't none of my business But still knowin' this shit could pop off at any minute cuz [Chorus] [Verse 2] There used to be a time when you could just say a rhyme And wouldn't have to worry about one of your people dyin' But now it's elevated cuz once you put someone's kids in it The shit gets escalated, it ain't just words no more is it? It's a different ball game, callin' names and you ain't just rappin' We actually tried to stop the 50 and Ja beef from happenin' Me and Dre had sat with him, kicked it and had a chat with him And asked him not to start it he wasn't gonna go after him Until Ja started yappin' in magazines how he stabbed him Fuck it 50 smash 'em, mash 'em and let him have it Meanwhile my attention is pullin' in other directions Some receptionist at The Source who answers phones at his desk Has an erection for me and thinks that I'll be his ressurection Tries to blow the dust off his mic and make a new record But now he's fucked the game up cuz one of the ways I came up Was through that publication the same one that made me famous Now the owner of it has got a grudge against me for nothin' Well fuck it, that motherfucker can get it too, fuck him then But I'm so busy being pissed off I don't stop to think That we just inherited 50's beef with Murder Inc. And he's inherited mine which is fine ain't like either of us mind We still have soldiers that's on the front line That's willing to die for us as soon as we give the orders Never to extort us, strictly to show they support us We'll maybe shout 'em out in a rap or up in a chorus To show them we love 'em back and let 'em know how important it is To have Runion Avenue Soldiers up in our cornersTheir loyalty to us is worth more than any award is But I ain't tryna have none of my people hurt and murdered It ain't worth it I can't think of a perfecter way to word itThen to just say that I love ya'll too much to see the virdict I'll walk away from it all before I let it go any further But don't get it twisted, it's not a plea that I'm coppin' I'm just willin' to be the bigger man If ya'll can quit poppin' off at your jaws well then I can, Cuz frankly I'm sick of talkin' I'm not gonna let someone elses coffin rest on my conscience cuz [Chorus]

[Verse 2: 50 Cent]
Penitentiaries is packed with promise makers
Never realize the precious time that bitch niggaz is wastin'
Institutionalize my bitchez bring me product by the bundle
Hustle hard for my sale, G-Unit motherfucka, we ballin'
Catch me countin' cheese and when I'm callin', do you accept my calls?
Still let me sip on Hennessy, can I sip some more?
Hell, I done been to jail, I ain't scared
Mama checkin' in my bedroom, I ain't there
I got a head with no screws in it
Motherfuckas thinkin' they can stop 50, they losin' it
Lil' nigga named Ja think he live like me
Talkin' about he left the hospital took nine like me

You livin' fantasies nigga, I been checkin' deposit
When your lil' sweet ass gon' come out of the closet?
Now he wonderin' why DMX blowed him out
Next time grown folks talkin', bitch, close yo mouth
Peep me, I take this war shit deeply
Done seen too many real niggaz ball to let these bitch niggaz beat me
Black Child, you's a motherfuckin' punk and you'll see me with gloves

And you can tell them niggaz you roll with whatever you want
But you and I know what's goin' on
Nigga payback, Tah, I know yo bitch ass from way back
Witness me strap the mac, knew I don't play that
All these old rappers tryina advance

Lovin' this shit, that's how you made me
Feelin' like I got you niggaz crazy
Uh huh, against all odds
Hopin' my thug motherfuckas know

Against all odds
Up in the studio gettin' blowed
To the truest shit I ever spoke

[Verse 3: Busta Rhymes]
Ay yo, I been one of the most humble
Reppin' streets to the core
Ay Jeffrey, what the fuck you come and bother me for?
It's been a long time comin', like a blessing to check you
See, 106 & Park fans don't even fuckin' respect you
It's kinda funny, wanna be Pac, wanna fake like he thug
Runnin' around talkin' shit that he ain't capable of
Now let me off this cock sucka, watch me handle you nigga
If I recall, Violator used to manage you nigga
They took a closer look and realized you wasn't impostured
There's never been a Violator on the Murder Inc. roster, dumbass
Now, who shootin'? Awww, made you look!
You said Bust' singin' the same old hook? You stupid!
If y'all shootin', I take a look at yo man
The bitch shot himself in front of Def Jam
Chedda bob ass niggaz, start adjustin' yo plan
You let the streets down nigga, apologize to yo fans
Watched you pull a lil' stunt like we ain't know what it was
Lil' faggot, desperate tryina reestablish a buzz
I know the shit is drivin' you crazy, you wonderin' how
The streets ain't never want you
, Beatrice, whachu gonna do now?
Now if you wanna beef with me, then I'm beefin' with you
I think about the game and what it's like and
{*imitating Ja Rule* "What would it be without you?"
You finished, I ain't tryina repeat this
Just 'cause I'm cool, you shouldn't take my kindness for weakness

[Busta Rhymes talking]
Oh shit... it was fun...
Next time you got a problem man...
Address me before you try to make the shit a public issue homey...
Now I'ma return back to my regular self...
And have fun again... one!

We got big ball's, pay off ten fo' walk with the fifth ball
Bangin on Crenshaw

[Chorus X2]

50 Cent? is that what this is all about?
2 punk ass motherfuckin quarters!

Lets start from the start..
Now the Ja shit i tried to squash it, it was too late to stop it
Ja rule stabbed 50 cent..
A source close to the situation, however, did confirm that 50 Cent and two crew members including his DJ were attacked. 50 Cent was not badly hurt in the attack. That same source identified Ja Rule and accomplices as the attackers.( http://www.sohh.com/articles/article.php/1273 )

It's a different ball game, callin' names and you ain't just rappin'
We actually tried to stop the 50 and Ja beef from happenin'
Me and Dre had sat with him, kicked it and had a chat with him

50 Cent is pissed! Hes going to try and kill/hurt Ja Rule and the attackers.

Until Ja started yappin' in magazines how he stabbed him
Fuck it 50 smash 'em, mash 'em and let him have it

So Ja Rule started poppin off. And then Eminem says screw it, and then to go kick his ass.

That we just inherited 50's beef with Murder Inc.
And he's inherited mine

So now, its not just a feude with the artists, but the whole company?

We still have soldiers that's on the front line
That's willing to die for us as soon as we give the orders

So they have bouncers with guns? Wow, this is deep shit...

Mouth like a 12 gauge shotty (feel me!)
Now its not even just Ja rule. And his producer dissin on 50 and Eminem

Ja's words bein' quoted
In The Source stealin' Pac's shit like he just wrote it

Is this why they are pissed off at each other? Because hes stealing Tupacs lyrics?

Ecstasy done got me feelin' so invincible
Now all a sudden I'm a fuckin' mad man who screams like I'm Pac

Was Ja Rule on ecstasy when he started the fight with 50 cent?

Motherfuckas thinkin' they can stop 50, they losin' it
Lil' nigga named Ja think he live like me
Talkin' about he left the hospital took nine like me

Uh oh. Is someone boasting? So now it looks like hes trying not to impersonate but to talk shit, that never happened to him

Now he wonderin' why DMX blowed him out
What role does DMX play anyways?

Peep me, I take this war shit deeply
Done seen too many real niggaz ball to let these bitch niggaz beat me

50 is full of himself. So now we know hes taking whatever war too personally. And it seems like he is going to retaliate.

It's all over now, take it like a man
Is 50 going to try and kill him?

Fuck Dre partial, and eminem
Ja has come back with a come back song

Put a vest on yourself and your child-ren
I heard him say Hailie's name on a song and I just lost it

So that is why Eminem is bitching about him saying Hailies name.

In case y'all don't know about my savages
They'll kidnap you kid's, throw em over a bridge

So Ja has some street thugs too. And now he is threating Hailie.

I think "Big" as if I was wanted on death row
What Death Row. Like Tupacs death row? Because there was a rumor that Dre and Snoop Dogg put the hit on him, because he was becomming such a great artist. Now, Ja is thinking that he is becomming this artist? Or the other kinda death row?

I'll probably go to jail fo' sending "50" to hell
If I lay banks down yayo going tell

Well, now sounds like he wants to go after 50 again. And Maybe Lloyd banks, because him and 50 are "thug" buddies. And then Yayo goes to the cops?

See, this has be so confused, because like.. they are engaging their hate in rap. So this is why we are all so corrupt
tongue.gif

Anyways, they both want to kill each other, and just I dont know. So I made this thrad, lol!

Anyways.. any insight on how this rap game is actually more of a legal way to threat. Almost as if a cult. And then something happens, and they freak out, and go shoot each other up?

whoa, thats pretty deep, i never thought of eminem as a thug kinda guy, but i guess hes got a lot of street rep

The whole rap battle nonsense is childish and as adults they should know that words do speak louder than actions in some ways..

A cut will heal, but something thats said to you that hurts you will remain on your mind, forever.

For instance, and to prove a point, I can easily tell you every name I was called in elementary / middle school.

Now, when these rap artists run their mouth of, their putting themselves in a bad situation. I like to prevent drama and controversy myself, so this whole thing goes totally against the type of lifestyle I'd like to see.

I think you'll get more replies tonight when america wakes up...

IMO rap is an act, it's like puff daddy once said.
all these peoploe who want to be rappers try to live the lifestyle portraid in the videos, but all the actual rappers are up at 8 in the morning, training to keep fit so they can make videos, then they spend their days in nice studios recording songs, or in plush board rooms cutting contracts!...

the days of rappers shooting each other should never really have arisen, and it really just goes to show that the people who are shooting each other should never have really become famous. all that happens is the give bad examples to kids, and wind up getting killed.

These rap battles are just as bad as some of the lame spamming flame battles we see in here, its real life yes, but its just people not being able to talk their way through things and resorting to violence.

The world is turning into a place were intellect, and realizing that words have just as much power as guns, is becoming less and less. People were i live try Soooo hard to gain respect with there fists, not realizing, that what they are doing is just the sissy way out, because they dont have the brains to talk for what they believe in. I love rap, its deep, its genious (most the time) and i dont understand why these rap artists cant apply their skills in things that can help society. Dont even say that what Marshall says in his songs isnt genious, look at the structure, look at the speed he pumps these words out. Look at the speed he was pumping out these amazing albums. Listen to the Tones, the beats he has with his songs, they are amazing, every aspect of what this man puts out is art, and genious at that, so again i ask why cant they apply it to what matters? Life, Success, Progress.

That's no surprise, it's been like that for a long time. I thought everybody knew about the trouble between JA and eminem and 50. Rappers have always done that. Im not sure what point you're trying to make exactly. But i guess for those who didn't know, it puts everything in a clear retrospect of what's been going on. But yeah, these things happen. A lot of anger arises from dissing people through albums and songs and next thing you know, somebody pays for it with their life.

Haha, what if it was switched, the type of music these "images" tried to use, what if it was bands like coldplay and dave mathews band that were having the battles and cappin each other, i think that would be wierd.

It wouldn't happen... However it'd be kinda pointless and gay... Another thing rap grew up along with the gangs. Gangsta rap is what caused this. Otherwise rapping would be like all other music forms..
