if anybody can help me i would be very greatful, i purchased a external hdd enclosure and set it up but the hdd does not appear in my computer but when i look at safely remove hardware it is there with the company name and everything

Do me a favor and do the following:
Go to the Control Panel.
Go to the Administrative Tools.
Go to Computer Management.
Then click on Disk Management.

See if your disk is listed there, and tell me.

It needs to be formatted before windows will recognize it. It should have come with some software that will detect and format the drive.

it is a 80 gig... very peculiar

Notice it doesn't have a file system nor volume.
The people are right man.. you need to format it. :)

By the way, to format it go to Disk Management like before, right click and select Format.

ahh....I didn't even notice it didn't have a file system
BTW, make sure you format it with the NTFS file system

It's on the bottom you do it.

Click your Hard drive on the box in the bottom that matches yours, and then, if it show the same thing: Delete partition. After that, create a new one and make sure you want to format it with that. If not, you will need to format it with the format tool.
