Transfer data

I currently have a Sony Vaio and just bought a Dell E1705. I want to transfer my files from the old to the new and I already have a crossover cable.
1.) Do I need anything else to do this?
2.)What do I have to do to each computer to set up the transfer?
3.) As far as bookmarks for Firefox, can I transfer those over as well?

Yeah, sorry I forgot that. The old one is XP home and the new is XP pro.

good, theres a program in windows called files and settings transfer wizard. just run it and follow the instructions.

If that fails, just network em' and transfer all the files over..
