Heatsinks on memory on video cards

Of course not... Not every card, obviously, has HS's on the memory. It's not even nessesary(at least I've not seen any that HAD to have them) Usally, it just helps with stability and overclocking.
 
For overclocking the stick on aluminium video card ram heatsinks are a definite advantage but they need an air flow over them to work, something the stock cooling on that card will not provide, so unless you are looking to mount a fan (or replace the stock cooling which will void your warranty) for that purpose I wouldn't be too worried.
 
Memory doesn't get that hot, but like it's already been said, if you want better stability for overclocking having a cooling device on the memory will provide an added advantage.
 
Well, in my personal experience, when running a demanding game, on a low budget card, for example, HL2/Area 51 on my Ati X300se, it gets REAL hot. So, I think that an exaust set on a video card, is worth its weight in gold, so to speak. Next card, im getting from HIS. So, I reccomend this card to you..

With all respect towards the 850, i've heard it does not support all the features that a 7600GT does.

So as you like ATi, I like nVidia. Thanks for the info though.

After doing some research on the 7600GT, i've found that it doesn't really have any over heating problems. But I guess I could just shove a cooler underneath the video card in an empty PCI slot to cool it a bit.
 
On a video card, a fan is more common to find now a days, than not.
On memory, heatspreaders are common but at times you'll find its about 50/50.

I'd rather a fan on my video card, as that produces more heat than the memory.

Those X850XT's by HIS are so freakin nice! I love those too!

And I looks like there are no heat sinks on the memory.. I have a friend that is saying this is CRITICALLY bad.. but I don't fully believe him on this. But since i'm no expert on the matter, I figured i'd ask about it.

Has nobody else noticed this? There is a heatsink and fan on that card..
