bios problem???

got battery in nice and tight....and also..when i have hard drive and cd rom drives connected...computer power light comes on and it doesn't show nothing on screen...but when i disconnect drives it shows ibm screen and stays there...might this be a jumpers setup wrong on drives or something?, thanks

i got it working now, and yes i got the right battery in it, thanks for all the help, and if anyone is wondering how i fixed it, i had the hard drive ide line in the wrong way(i was told the red ribbon faces toward power plug)...and that it wouldn't start because the active partition was an extended not formatted partition... i have learned my lesson...thanks again to all...you can only learn from trying
