ATI VS Nvida. 1800 vs 7800+

Good Day.
I need a new graphics card because i really want to upgrade my nvidia 6600GT128mb and i was wondering if instead of giving my money to nvidia for a 7800GT or what. Ill give my money to ATI for a ATI Radeon X1800XT. Would it be better than the the 7800GT? And would it work on my nForce Ultra 4 mobo. PCI Express. ? I'd go with the 7800GT, not sure which one is actually better, but the difference is probably quite small. And I like nVidia more so thats why I'd choose the 7800GT.

Their two different generation cards..
The X1800XT is a newer card, and has double the memory..

I'd suggest the X1800XT. It beats the 7800GT in nearly everything, infact, in some benchmarks, not to sure which, but the X1800Xt beats the 7800GTX. So, if the X1800XT can beat the 7800GTX, then obviously it's the better choice. Although, I'd suggest the X1800GTO, get good performance, and at a cheaper cost.

ok thanks. So like the 512 X1800XT or GTO will defently beat the the 256mb 7800 gt or even gtx!? and it will work in a mord such as mine. ASUS-A8n pci espress, nForce 4 Ultra?

no the X1800GTO wouldnt beat the 7800GTX its more compared against the GT or the 7600GT. Yeah it will work, and the X1800Xt would do the job just fine

Yeah, the X1800GTO competes against the 7600GT more then anythign else. BUt, yes, either cards will work with your motherboard, regardless if it's ATI or NVIDIA.
