On the video card drivers in Settings, you can usually specify the Maximum resoloution and refresh rate the monitor can display. When you restart, or even if you don't, the slider should be able to go further.

It should allow a 15 second test and if it doesn't work, it'll automatically reconfigure to the previous resoloution and refresh rate it was at before.

i tried it, but i still couldnt even move the slider up any further
