hey does anyone know if it's possible to buy an unlocked Nextel phone, and use another carrier's sim card in it, but still use the walkie talkie features?

no, its not. alot of cell phone dealers around here unlock cell phones

Yeah, you can get all phones unlocked but Nextel seems pointless to do I have never seen a nextel phone unlocked. But yes go on ebay man mainly all the phones already come unlocked my old v5 was unlocked when i got it off ebay..

no, because the walkietalkie feature doesnt work on those bands that the 2-way radios use, but they use the service providers bands

Yeah, thats why i said not many people get nextels unlocked the main reason plp like the phone is because the "chirp" you just loook plain old dumb having a nextel phone with no "chirp" thats the best feature
