I have a Linksys WRT54G router, and I'm trying to transfer files from a D-Link DWL-G520 Wireless PCI Adapter to my laptop (HP Pavillion DV1410/1000). I have 2 folders shared on both. I wanted to transfer Halo Custom Edition (170MB) to the laptop from the desktop and it only goes at about 1MB/s. It should go 54G. The router, PCI Adapter, and built-in wireless thing is configured for wireless G...i don't know if that helps.

Just like internet speed they say 3mb/s down stream but you never actually get that..

well its 5mb/s so thats about 625kb/s which is about the speed i get when i download something

5mb = 5000kb.
5mb = 625kB

And Matt08642, I presume u mean 40kB/s, then u would most likely have a 512kb connection.

The speed they but on boxes is what you would get if you were running it on a clean computer with full resources and nothing else running.

I know that's what it was when i used to work at HP doing technical support for printers.
