so im getting this mac off ebay, and its a g3 400mhz with 128 mb ram. i was thinking to upgrade it to at least 512 and install osx 10.4. I have a few sticks of pc133 ram lieing around here. would it fit?

yes. believe it or not, our school runs os 10 on some that are 333mhz with 128mb ram.

/feels ashamed for school

No actually their 400MHZ is sufficient to run OS 10.4. You see, it's not RAM and CPU eaten alive by Windows. Something Bill Gates forgot to do

whoa! X on 333MHz? my school has the eMacs. the $1000 models. they got 512 mb of ram, 1ghz pcu, and radeon 9600... or 9200, i dont remember. but how does 10 run on 333mhz?....

ya, we also got 800mhz emacs with 256mb ram, and two with 1ghz and 512mb ram, and they run pretty nice

yeah, i did. sorry, i posted that right before you posted yours. just look at the time. they were both posted at 9:04PM

Right timing my friend :)

Again, OS 10.x series are not that demanding. A G3 would equal to around a Celeron 600MHZ and an AMD Duron 550-633MHZ
