i have a pc running xp pro (with out sp2). i pluged my mp3 player in and it switched the pc off, when i try to boot it comes up, stop:0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf65da4do, oxfaf72fec, 0xfaf72cec)

well if you cant even get in via safe mode then your screwed. try the recovery console on the xp cd

try putting in the disk and running the (i think this is right) CHDSK command...
it should fix the things...
or maybe it is CHKDISK or CHDISK...

when you are trying chkdsk from the XP CD type
chkdsk /? first to find out what the switches on how to fix things are...

There are two switches, (can't remember what they are), but turn both on.

i don't have the xp pro cd can i use a xp home cd.
