That's about idle? Should get a program like Prime95 in order to see how it operates at full load. Otherwise I would say yes, it's safe to overclock. As usual - you need to be careful when overclocking, especially if it's your first time.

Well, most likely he has a good heatsink/fan on his cpu. He prooly has some case fans inside for intake and out..The best way to take your temps down is a new heatsink/fan for your cpu.

I got 3 case fans and my amd runs at 32c idle.

As long as it is under about 55 Celsius under load, you'll be okay. Personally, I like to keep my Opteron under 50 Celsius.

No no I didn't mean it was actually outperformed or anything - but the FX-53 was turned into another processor, and instead of keeping two premium processors, they had the FX-55 and made the FX-53 the 4000+ I believe. It happened some time ago.

Yep.

The FX-53 is a Clawhammer though. I doubt you can push it very far.
