alright well when u see a heatsink it will say "compatible with k8"...what does that exactly tell u? i have a SK8v mobo? does that me that its compatible w/ it?

What are your specs? The heatsink should say "compatible with amd socket 939, 754 mobos, etc." Where are you getting this info?

No, but for some processor just like the Zalman 9500 that thing is huge. For that type of heatsink/fan you have to make sure your mother board can hold it. Not just the sockets. What heatsink/fan are you looking in to?

Ohh, well you have to makke sure cause some of these things are huge and you need to make sure your mobo is big enought. For example you dont want the heatink touching a transisot or ur ram..

K8 is the current-gen and next-gen AMD Athlon, FX, X2 and Opteron processors. If your heatsink says that it's "K8 Compatible", then it should work if you use an AMD thats Socket 754, Socket 939, and Socket 940.
