back up 20+ gigs???

Use Nero to back up, as it will also compress the files, and save the number of DVD's that you will use, (If you choose to use that method) personally its my preferance but then I only have the one computer now, and it has a 300gig hard drive, I sometimes slot a 40gig one in the spare bay, and then use that to transfer large amounts of data if I am moving it to a new computer.

Its down to personal preference really

yeah, an ipod would be a great solution instead of using up all of those discs. but if you don't have one, i guess you should use DVD's. i think they're like 4.7 gigs...compared to a 700mb cd-r

well i have an ipod, but i used 18 gigs already on it :(
and i'm reinstalling windows, so i need to back up all my stuff, and the 18 gigs on my ipod is the bulk, the rest is just some other stuff

Just go with the dvds if you want a quick solution but since it can only hold about 4.7gb single layered, 8.4 gb dual layered, it might take several dvds to cover your whole 20 gigs. You might just want to get a small external hd and just put everything on there if you want it done in one piece. Lol, or you could just put everything on your ipod.

Anyways as for internal..
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822140118

Id get that internal, if you wanna speed like $45. I think its worth it to back up your computer. Just remember, no need to back up your games, just the save files from them..

I have a 250 GB Maxtor installed in my computer that I use for a storage drive anytime I need to do anything like that, along with my 200 GB Maxtor. Works well, I like it.

Well.. I mean for a backup, you dont want to always have the other drive connected to the computer. Incase of a virus or just wear and tear. Id just back up the hard drive in the internal, and from their, put the drive back in the box. And back it up whenever needed from then on..

I'd go with an external Hard Drive myself... or get another one to put in, if you can be buggered. Backing up on so many DVD's seems time consuming.

I'm thinking about getting an external Hard Drive off Ebay Segate 200GB+... But it only works with USB 2.0, and I only have USB 1.1 I think, as everytime I plug in my USB Drive or MP3 Player it says that they can perform faster... Anyway of finding out what type my USB Drive is?
