i am running ubuntu linux off livecd right now, i have already booted to the ubuntu desktop, if i remove the disk and say put in a DVD will this cause a problem?

It probably would, since you are running the whole operating system from that single CD. You could always try it though, i don't think there is any harm in it.

haha, If you take out the disc it will either lock it and not let you take it out or it will mess up, the entire OS is running off that disc...you cannot take it out! :p

yeah you cant, its the same thing with knoppix. i believe you can install knoppix (i dont know aboot ubuntu) on your hd. then you will be able to use your drive.

Kind of like pulling out your hard drive when running Windows!

I run Linux Mepis off an external Hard drive that way I don't have the problem with Cd's or DVD's

yea, you cant take the live cd out... why not just install it, you wont be disapointed!
