Provided by nVidia themselves, fyi. As with the Conroe benchmarks provided by Intel versus a future AMD processor at IDF, these are best used as a rough guide at the moment until a third-party can validate them independently.

Benchmarks run on an FX-57 system with 1GB of ram and Windows XP SP2.

F.E.A.R, 2560x1600, soft shadows enabled
47fps - 7900 GTX 512 Quad-SLi
26fps - X1900XTX Crossfire

Chronicles of Riddick, 2560x1600, 4xAA/8xAF
82.9fps - 7900 GTX 512 Quad-SLi
53.5fps - X1900XTX Crossfire

Doom3, 2560x1600, 4xAA/8xAF
108.9fps - 7900 GTX 512 Quad-SLi
84.0fps - X1900XTX Crossfire

wow, crossfire doesnt loose too much in this. Quad SLI isnt that great from the benchmarks.

Quad SLI = Waste of money and pointless. Why? No game in the world will use all that power, so most of it goes to waste. Just normal SLI is good enough.

haha! Stupid NVIDIA!!! It takes FOUR of those 7900GTX's to beat TWO X1900XTX's. Wow, just goes to show that the 7900GTX is a waste of money. It's just a 7800GTX 512MB just overclocked a little bit. Guys, don't buy a 7900GTX, save your money, buy a new ATI card probably coming out in 2 months. :D

if there is one thing I know, bleeding edge sucks.
The geforce 8 or 9 series will probably be out by the time I care enough to get a 7800GT.
just not worth the money...

ya i think nvidia is really screwing up at the moment, ati seems to have done the right thing by adding more shaders instead of pipelines

ATI is beatign the snot out of NVIDIA right now. Ever since the launch of the X1900 series, they've really kicked it into overdrive. NVIDIA is showing ATI the ropes, and then ATI comes back with somethign better. Like the SLI X16 chipset. ATI counter-acts with their own X16 CrossFire chipset. NVIDIA goes 512MB video RAM, ATI counteracts with it as well. NVIDIA goes mobile, ATI goes mobile. See a pattern here folks?

I was really disappointed how the 7900GTX couldn't beat the X1900XTX overall. They didn't even bump the pixel pipelines or pixel shader processor count at all! Quad-SLI is just irrelavent. Nothing will use that much power, not to mention, it takes four of them to beat two X1900XTX's. It's a sad year for NVIDIA...
