Opteron vs. Xeon: Today's Leading Workstation Processors Head-to-Head

Its okay, no apology needed. Im just trying to correct some misleading information so people dont interpret it wrong. Actually, xeons and opterons are very close, budget comes into great play when deciding which processor. A lot of people like their opteron, nothing wrong with that.

But if there so close.. How can Xeon only be good for server/mulittasking things. and the opteron can be turned into a gaming beast!

And yeah.. Me and P4. Were lonely together! haha :D

there is no Athlon core. Athlon is a branch of processors like Pentium 4 and Celeron and Sempron.

Athlon is nothing more than a name.

It's my understanding that an Opteron 1xx and an Athlon64 with the sandiego core are very similar, maybe different cache sizes or clock speeds...

Sandys and Venus have the same cache size (1MB) but the stock speed is different. Venus being 200 mhz slower stock.

but I guess the fact that opties overlclock like "A Madman On Crack" makes up for that...
