i need a new video card for my old computer and i was looking for one that does not need an extra power tap.

I have a 5200 FX 128 right now similar to this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150041

but mine was made by MSI.

So i want to upgrade it but need a videocard that does not require a 4 pin connector from the power supply, because most of the new ones do.

Any recommendations?

My computer has a 300 wat PSU by the way.

it depends on how much money you want to spend. right now, the best card for agp is the 7800gs. it beats the x850xt pe/// and its cheaper.

Did you even read his first post? Or did you just fly by and decide to post something irrelevant? Whatever... back on topic. How much do you have to spend? A great video card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814127164 is this. It doesn't need a 4 pin connector and works very well. This card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814103159 is also great for the money and doesn't need a 4 pin. If those are too expensive, this one works well for the money: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814153012 Hope this helps. :D

well sorry, i didnt see the thing about the extra power tap. a new psu could cost as lttle as $30, so its worth it. to pay a lil extra.

yeah man.. last time i paid 30 bux for my 350 watt.. omfg for a few days i smelled metal burning or something, had no freaking clue what it was. one day i come home from school (i left comp on in the morn) and my com pis off.. i tried turning it back on.. it didnt respond.. i was like WTF, now i bought a 60 dollar 350watt antec power supplly.. cant go wrong now.

Anyway. i would suggest a 4 pin videocard if ur gonna be playing games. If not, then i guess any other altnernative is fine.. as long as it gets you from a to b as my old man would say.

I would get a new psu too. It might be a hassle for him, though, trying to install a new psu...
