hardware problem

the last couple of times i have turned my computer on it has been fine for a few hours, then the screen has shown a repeated colour table type pattern (no taskbar) and it has smelt of burning plastic... i have a fanless 9800 pro - the heatsink covers most of the card on both sides, this setup has been fine for about 2 years so might not be the one causing the burning. any suggestions would be appreciated!

Have you cleaned it lately? Use some air and blow out your computer. The burning smell indicates a heat issue. Keep going this route, and you may be purchasing a new system- due to failure of cooling. Clean it out, and see if it continues. Also download some free programs to monitor the CPU, MoBo, and case. I use Everest Home Edition, which is free. There are more.
