Hi. i am in my third year of computer systems engineering degree. i have the best grades of my school and until recently i had had time to do a lot of things: wokout, go dancing at least two times a month, being with my girlfriend. But lately i haven't had time for anything but the school and it had me thinking. will it be this way once i am a professional?. and i got scared. i have managed to in spite of being nerdie have a great body made with 4 years of hard work in the gym, to have a beautiful girlfriend and some other delightful things.
As much as i love computers i love my life too. I have no problem with sacrificing this things for 1 or 1 and a half year . but i don't want things to be this way all the time.
So i need some advice from some computer professionals about the life of a computer worker.
Thanks in advance

The third year is always the most difficult, and friends and family should understand that, stick to the studying its only another year, not even that if you are in your third year now, as you will be finishing by the summer now.

It looks bleak now, when I done my degree, and now I am in the 2nd year of next degree I find I have to cut down on my socialising, I simply don't have time for it, but the perks of having this degree will far outweigh the work that I am having to put into it now.

Keep going, it may be difficult at first getting established in a new job at first, but to me it was never as difficult as the final year of uni was.....

Good luck

yeah, i'm glad to see people are coming to us for help with their lives rather than always asking computer questions

yeah, it's definitely hard your third year.. but it's going to pay off..believe me. having a career in computers is one of the best ones to have. when school's done, you'll realize that you'll have time for things like that.

I know a lot of computer guys who do the stuff for a living. They normally have a pretty easy job, due to the problems they fix they've fixed them 1,000s of times before.

If your GF does not respect what you do and how committed you are, then she does not deserve to be with you.

did you make this thread just to show off?

Not at all.... Are all of we computer-related people that distrustful??. i Just made the post in the first hours of sunday and i spent the rest of the day outside the cyber world.
I really wanted to know, because i made the decision of studying computer systems "just" because i love to program, to open up every electronic device i have, to make algorithms. But i never consider that i also love spending some time everyday outside. I don't know too many computer systems professionals to ask for a personal advice.

and in fact the thing that i am more worried about is not about the girls, there are always a chance to meet girls, maybe just once a month but i think there are always time. But my hobbie is the gym. maybe is something lame but is something that i really love to do, and for example last week i was able to go just 3 days. And i just slept 4 hours every day. I mean there is the popular saying "all work and no play makes jack a dull boy". And as i said i am willing to keep doing this for some time but not for the rest of my life.
