OK I have a Dell laptop. I've had it for about 3 years. Games ran fine on it for a while and I could play for hours without problems. But then it would start overheating and shutting off suddenly, it didnt even show the shut down screen. Does anyone have any idea why it would do this and any ideas on how to fix it?
thanks

Well, when computers overheat they shut down to prevent further damage to components. Laptops naturally get hotter than desktops because of the absense of fans and the components packed tightly together without much if any breathing room, so to speak. A thing to try is to make sure that the air intake on the bottom of your laptop isn't blocked (never let this be blocked) or buy a cooler pad.
