Hi, I hope someone can help

Basically in options I have set it to rip as mp3, not as WMV but when they rip they are still WMV. This is so annoying as I use WMV to rip but winamp to play, is there any way to change it?

Second question, as regards these WMV files, is there any way to change them to mp3 so I can play them in winamp? A conversion program or soemthing

many thanks in advance for any help

I don't know why it is doing that, maybe try reinstalling Windows media player, as I am not having any problem ripping cd's to mp3 using it, but maybe microsofts way of promoting the format which it designed, I normally use Winamp to rip my cd's directly into mp3 but yeah there is loads of wmv->mp3 converters, do what Computer Genius said or google it.

well telling me to look on download.com isn't very useful

can anyone recommend any good conversion programs?

thanks for all the help

Xilisoft MP3 wav coverter.
It is something like that.
Just google Xilisoft.

The trial is free but you only get 5 free conversions, but I know a trick to always make it unlimited :) . What you do is convert, save it, then delete it in the covereter then it will say you have 5 conversions left, repeat the process and it will still say that! thus NO NEED TO BUY IT!!

It is very easy to use as well. It is simple and fast.

Uncheck MP3 in File Types somewhere in the options
I find that my MP3 files are just masked as WMAs....
