Hey guys and gals, got a question for ya..Buddy of mine wants a computer. He's asked me to either find a cheap one that does what he wants it to do, or build him one. All he's wanting to do with the computer is:
Surf the Internet
Listen to music
Slight image editing (Nothing major)

He has no desire to play games on this computer. His main concern is he wants it for the internet capabilites, and for music. He definitely will want a top of the line sound card, but i'm really not sure what processor would be ideal for this build. So, if you guys could help me out, maybe suggest motherboard/processor...That'd be great. Feel free to give advice on any other pieces of the build also as any info is welcome. Thanks :)
(Almost forgot, he wants this crammed into as small a case as possible, so ideas on that would be great as well.)

Woah, that case doesn not fit in with the rest of the hardware at all, it's like budget and then EXPENSIVE CASE!

it will cost you about 200 Pound for a nice cheap one with out sound and monitor.

Or, 400Pound with a flat screen and a top sound card.

Overall great idea, but I think it's a bit more than what he needs...Keep the ideas coming :D

That's an easy config. If gaming is something he won't be doing too often, pretty much any PC will do for him. I would just get him a complete system from Dell or any other companies like Compaq/HP, eMachines, etc.

If you want to build try this config. I don't know your price range, but for what he wants, this is pretty good:

Use onboard sound. They sound pretty close to the Audigy 2's and the price difference is huge. Get a nice set of speakers and you'll have good sound to go with onboard Realtek.

I may do just that...tell him that maybe buying a cheap dell or something might be the best idea for what he wants. I'd really like to build one for him (just because I enjoy it) but if I can't save him money, I won't do it.
(I'd like to keep him around the $500-$600 range)
