I reached for my mouse, got a static discharge through a plastic mouse into the computer. The PS2 mouse port no longer will function, keyboard is OK.
Got new wireless rodent, USB hook up appears to function OK except when I put computer into stndby- the cooling fans continue to run, the HD skreeches to a hault and after it has been off for an hour or so it will not respond- must be unplugged to shut down. The mouse is a logitech.
Could the BIOS have been affected by the static discharge?
I live in the southwest and highly recommend wireless mousing for those who live in high static areas. Mice are cheaper than computers.
I'm new and a novice so don't rain on me too hard
Thanks Smoky
