I know NOTHING about computers! I was wondering if I could network my laptop with the computers at my office? If I can will I be able to access the network from my house? If this type of networking is not available is there any suggestions on how to access my office pc from my home laptop?

Do you have a system administrator at your work place
what os is your notebook
what OS is your works server?
does your notebook have wireless ? a network card ( ethernet port ) ?
does your office have a domain or peer to peer ?
do they use dhcp or static ip adresses?
do they have a router?
do they have broad band?
do you have broadband?
If they have a router does the router support VPN

If your laptop has an ethernet port (cat5), you should be able to plug it into your network at work, although the network admin may throw a fit. Network admins are very critical of their network, and anything anyone plugs into it without prior knowledge by them- you don't wanna go there- trust me.

If you need access to your work from home, I'm sure your company can setup what is called a VPN (Virtual Private Network) for you. You simply log into work, from home, through the VPN, which provides you a secure tunnel through the Internet to your workplace. You have to have high-speed Internet at home, but other than that, you should ask your company these questions, for security reasons.
