But can I also use programs like Winzip to compress the files?

P.S. If I compress a file and then burn it on to a DVD, would the file hold the same space as it did after it was compressed or before it was compressed?

Ah right. I thought you wanted to compress, i.e change the real file size.

Winzip I doubt would work that well for video files. It doesn't work in the right way, so I doubt you'd get much from it at all.

But yes, if you copied to a DVD, you'd need to of course decompress it on the other end before running them, making them useless to play on a DVD player, unless you were just running them on a PC in which case, its fine, though don't expect much from it in terms of space saving.
