New HDD

ok guys i have a compaq presario model number sr1110nx and it has a 40gb HD and i just bought a 120gb hd from newegg but it says it is an SATA drive but the one i have now in my comp is like an Ultra DMA or something, thats what it says in the product specs. i want to know if i can use that new hard drive from newegg right out of the box or do i need to buy special cables to connect to my mobo and psu.

Just make sure the IDE cables are connected properly. You gave vague info about what your comp is using so I can't really say anything much more. I think you're fine. its likely he doesnt have sata ports so that hard drive will not work, ide send it back and change it for an IDE hard drive
