Computer not booting after defrag..

I just defragged my computer, and it completed, so I restarted my system. It restarts, comes to the XP boot screen, and the little status bar just freezes for agers. After about ten minutes, it restarts itself, and starts the whole process over again. The wierd thing is, I can boot info Safe mode no probs.

Please help me because I need to get on to finish coursework!!

Go into a safe mode an run a virus check. If that doesnt work use system restore

Thanks for reply. I tried that and no luck

So im repairing the installation instead, try that and see what happens

u can avoid restarting for that moment by typing"" shut down -a"" at RUN
but i dont know what happens after that

what i would do if u havn't already tried repairing is to use the "last good configuration" option, if that doesn't work try and see if u can use the "do not automaticaly restart from boot error", thats not exactly the term but it's similar enough 2 figure it out, also to get 2 these options right after the logo screen at boot press F8 repediadly(sp) lol
