Network Engineer

Hi I hav recently graduated from University with a BSC computer network degree, i want to work as a network admin/engineer

just wanted to ask advice on what people thought was the best course to take up in helping me further my job aspect

I am not sure whether to take up Cisco or MCSE

So how comfortable are you with PC's and Networking in general ?
This is just a sugestion, I would get an MCP or the full MCSE, and specialise in CISCO, if it does not pay off you can fall back on the MCP or MCSE. The Cisco cert I think you have to actually go there, to cisco to take the tests, or at least it was that way when I was getting my MCP. You probably could teach yourself all you need to know from books and the software trainers for cisco simulators that are out there. So you would know a lot just no cert. Do you have a PC / networking job yet ?

MCSA - Microsoft Certified System Administrator
MCSE - Microsoft Certified System Engineer

I would get your MCSE and aim for your CCNA(Cisco Certified Network Admin.)

I agree with you their MCSE and CCNA is the way to go and if he throws in a little programming language like pascale and oracle, then learns all about Linux, he'll be able to tell any future employer what wages he wants and not the other way round - like me
