ok guys i have a compaq presario model number sr1110nx and it has 40 gigs and i want to replace it with 80 gigs can someone tell me if its possible to upgrade it and if it is please send me some links to 80 gigs or over for under 75 dollars thank you.

you shouldn't need a "special" hard drive or anything. All you need to know is whether you need a hard drive that uses an IDE cable (big one) or an ATA cable (small one). I have one that uses an ATA cable, but that's probably just because mines 300 gb.

As far as transfering stuff, the easiest way is using an external hardrive when dealing with gigs. if you just so happen to have one of the oh-so-awesome fatty 60gb iPods, that would be an easy way to go. If not, externals are only about $150 for one about 150 gb (i think, don't quote me on the price but that's an approx) and it's the best way to back up your data.

burn out? I don't know what you do to your hardrives but mine usually don't burn out. Maxtor's a pretty shnazy company anyway,
