Different types of RAM in a computer...

Well, ive never been that good with RAM, but ive just bought a new stick for my mums pc, it works fine on its own but I was wondering whether I can use the existing stick as well, at the same time, they ARE different makes, and one is 512MB and one is 128MB.

So can I use different types in the same PC?

yes u can.
Sometimes it might not work, but the only way to know is to try it. Shouldn't harm the pc in any way.

But just check the speeds, if the 512 is for example ddr400 and the 128 is ddr200 then I wouldn't put the ddr200 in, because then both sticks would run at ddr200. (all of the sticks run at the speed of the slowest one)

So check the speeds, if they are the same then go ahead and try it.

Thanks, its all working. Got 3GB ram now, pretty god damned fast. Going to take a 1gb out and use it in a different system, maybe add it into my server.
