i have a sony vaio and an older HP. my HP's OP got messed up so im trying to reinstall windows xp on it. i have a cd but i dont know how to do it. also i installed the Harddrive on my vaio and it reads it. i was wondering if i caninstall the OS from my vaio to the HP's Harddrive?

You can pop your VIAO cd in your HP computer at startup and install it on the HD from there.

Theoretically it should work.

If you have trouble finding the right device driver files, then use the internet.

If you have a legitimate copy of XP you wont have any problems, just ensure your HP boots from a CD, or use a boot disk. Copying XP accross from another installation is not legal and you will run into problems. Installing XP to the HP HD on the other PC & then swapping out HDs will most likely cause issues.
