How's this configuration?

Wow, this dropped a page already. I need to know if that configuration will work, and what processor to use.

at the price of your processor i would look for the pentuim processor 1 watt (a 3GHz procesor acts like a AMD athalon 6GHz processor
u obviously have no idea what ur talking about an amd 64 3200+ 2.0GHz has about the same performace as a P4 3GHz and if u still havent decided on what to get just get the one i posted before i dont remember what it came to i think it was about $1300 but if u want me to change something to make it cheaper just ask

go with the amd 64 3500 its a great processor and get the venice o/c very easily but if you want the 1mb of 512mb for with the 3700 dont know how much of a diffrence it will be but w.e i suggest the amd 64 3500 venice socket 939 with that asus mobo that will be pretty bomb a$$

i wouldnt go with asus, i have one now and because of the low voltages i cant take full advantage of my cpu so thats why DFI owns all :D

I'm assuming the amd 64 3200 2.0GHz is the way to go. How much will it cost? I'll have to get another compatible mobo, but will all the other parts be compatible after the change.

yup they will be completely compatible but since you're getting a new cpu and motherboard get an opteron and DFI motherboard, the opteron can be overclocked like crazyyy if you're willing to learn how but its not difficult at all

This won't be a really powerful comp... it's more of a budget/home computer, not a workstation or gaming rig.
