OK, well I posted a day or so ago about getting a new Alienware computer. Someone told me I should try to build a custom computer, and try to save money. Well, I've been looking on Newegg, and so far I've come up with the following computer:

I have many questions, because I am not very knowledgeable about this stuff. Can you guys tell me a few things:

Is everything easily compatible with each other?

Does the tower leave plenty of room for upgrades, as the reviews say?

Does the Power Supply leave room for upgrades, such as SLI, and perhaps another harddrive/optical drive?

The total cost I've got for this is $2,301.96 before rebates; is this a good price?

Will this computer give me exceptional performance in all the games I play?

Do the hardrives fit properly into the chassis, and how many USB ports, etc. does it have?

Does the chassis have neon lighting as shown in the pictures, and the case comes with fans that should be capable of cooling the system properly as long as I don't plan on doing much OCing, right?

Thanks in advance for the help guys. Also make any suggestions you'd get about hardware that's cheaper/around the same price with no loss in performance.

1.Everything is compatible

2.that case has plenty of room for upgrades.

3.That powersupply should be enough for 2 7800gtxs and then maybe another optical drive or somthng.

4.That's a pretty good price.

5.That computer will play all games at max settings.

6.It dosent say how many usb ports are on the case but if there arent enough you can always use your motherboards usb ports. The case will have instructions on how to put the hard drive in the case, they will fit fine.

7.There arent actual neons in the case there are just led fans. The fans will do a fine job of keeping the case cool if you dont plan on overclocking.

that looks like a good setup but i highly recommend u get an opteron 148 cpu instead of that fx55, u can reach the same speeds through overclocking with the opteron and its wayyyyyyyy cheaper so u should seriously think about that also i would change the hard drive for a segate sata 2 hard drive and u might wana look at the DFI boards as they are far better overclockers than asus

I can reach higher speeds with my 3500, but that doesn't make it a better processor. That FX has a huge cache and it can overclock higher than all the 64 processors. You could definately hit 3.0GHz with some fans with that thing. But either way that FX is is a POWERFUL processor ment for gamers.

That's a bit of overkill, but if you're willing to spend 2000+ dollars for a computer you probobly don't care.

the opteron has been shown quite a few times on this forum and its easy to hit 3GHz with it and what do u mean by "huge cache"? it has 1mb L2 just like the opteron...

you are better off with the Dell 3007 WFP it goes around the same price and its 30". Its has better image quality than the Apple Cine display 30". As your comp, ChaosPsychoGame, i would get these instead. They are rated faster and cheaper, and use the same ICs as the OCZ. (Samsung UCCC incase you were wondering).

I have a monitor; multiple actually. My main one is a Sony SDM-HS95P and I'm very impressed with it. I've had it for like a year; 6 ms response time, and excellent picture in movies and games, and glare resistant to top it off. May be only 19'' but no complaints until I move on to a 30 inch later on.

Everything looks pretty good. I would buy that, but I prefer Lian Li cases and I hate Sony optical drives. I had bad experience with two of them before. I vow never to buy Sony PC parts again.
