Older drive in USB enclosure not recognized

I've been messing around with a couple of older drives, one of which is a WD Caviar 21200 in both a USB drive enclosure and a IDE to USB adapter and explorer in W2K doesn't recognize it. Under Computer Management it does not appear in Disk Management, but shows under Disk Drives in Device Manager. It also shows up under the USB unplug or eject hardware. I have checked the drive and it is good. Jumper set to master. Thanks in advance for any ideas!

in device manager dose it have a yellow exclamation mark beside it? if so it needs better drivers ... you could reinstall drivers anyway

Everything is good in device manager. Drivers aren't an issue either. Must be the age of the drives.

Is your motherboard usb 2.0?

Alot of encloures use USB 2.0
