iTunes/iPod volume equalization

When i play my iPod on my stereo..some of the songs are at different levels of volume...i was just wondering how i can make it so that the volume is played at the same level for all the songs.

There is an option under itunes-edit-preferences-and the you go to the audio tab and check the option that does this.

It is called SoundCheck. I don't use it, though, it makes some of my music sound pretty bad. Don't know why.

Soundcheck distorts the frequencies... some music was made to be softer than others.

Soundcheck does absolutely NOTHING! It just depends on the original recording.
