different ram sticks

if i put 2x512mb of pc3200 ram in a computer and also put 2x256mb of pc2700 would it slow down the faster one? or something like that? sorry if this doesnt make sense...
 
That's not good. There's a good chance that it might not work with these new RAMs. It use to be that the PC133 would step down to the slower RAM if PC100 were used, but now, I don't know if they do the same. I would stick with all PC3200.
 
Yes you can use it. I have one stick of PC2700 linked up with one stick of PC2100, it shows that I have 1 gigabyte of RAM and runs perfectly fine. :)

but does the pc2100 slow down the other stick?

yes it does.
No matter how many different kinds of ram u have all of them work at the speeds that the slowest one uses. (if they work at all)
