should I overclock my graphics card?

I have a nvidia 6600le and i'm wondering whether I should overclock it?

It plays doom 3 in high settings fine, except it stutters a bit when opening doors.

Will a little overclocking solve this?

I can't really be bothered getting extra cooling, my nvidia ntune program says the system temperature is 28 degrees, is this cool enough to overclock?

Also, if I didn't overclock it, would it play half-life 2 on high settings? (I don't know whether it is a bigger strain on the gpu than doom 3)

thanks.

I think that 28C is pretty low, I heard somewhere that average GPU temps are like 35C. Someone else will have to back that up for me though.

Haha, my 6600GT idles at 60 degrees Celsius and, when playing Half-Life 2, will go up to 98 degrees Celsius. Stay under 80 degrees though, just to be safe.

By the way, my card isn't overclocked. It just runs REALLY hot for no good reason. I don't know why it does this at all!

mine stock runs 52C and 59 under load, now i have it over clocked it runs 56C and under load 65C @ 560/1.12... not bad for stock cooling?

yea one of my 6600gt's is at 53C and the other is 49C idle, but to answer your question yes overclocking will give better performance which may make the doors stop lagging u
