dual channel mem. improve gaming ??

does it at all ??? cuz i have 512 single and im either going to buy another 512 of the same brand or get 1 gig(2x512) of dual channel i would rather get just the 512 but what are your thoughts

Dual Channel:

If you have like 120MB to load in the memory, it will load 60 on one and 60 on the other.

It is faster because its actually makng the RAM to work more efficiantly than standard as it woul be like:

120MB load to RAM

Stick 1 will take the 120 and the other, nothing

it does improve gaming.
But I don't think that the difference is worth $70 since I doubt it's going to give u any huge increase in FPS.

I agree. There is a performance gain, but not to the point where you will see dramatic results.

Yeah, 2x512MB is the most common configuration.

Yeah, like they said, your only going to see number results. You wont be able to tell the difference, with your eyes or anything. Maybe 3-7 FPs... max

Well, there is a significant difference in loading textures and maps. Let's say you turn a corner in HL2 or FEAR, there is a crapload or textures and models to load, there's where there will be a big difference. There won't be any more of that, turn a corner and the game freezes for a couple seconds crap.
