copying a partition

Does the partition that you want to copy have a OS on it? also does the HDD your tying to copy it too have a OS on it?

The OS is what i want to copy. my other harddrive is empty

y dont u just re-install the OS on the other HDD? Nothing like a fresh clean start. Obviuosly it takes more time, but it also gets rid of anything unwanted...spyware, if u have any viruses, cleans the registry, programs u dont use...etc...

are the two HDD's in the same computer. the OS wont work if it's transferd to a different computer. it will get really confused because of all the differnet hardware(Mainly the motherboard).

well, this is the thing. i just bought a new computer with no OS. so io wanted to put the Partitioned HDD into the new computer, press f10 when it boots up. reinstall windows from the partition. so then i would copy the partition from my old HDD to the new blank HDD. then i would take out my old HDD, put the new one as master, press f10 during boot up, install windows and everything be all set


o and Dsource, i have no Windows CDs so i have to use the partition
